The Tri-City of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot is a perfect destination if you are looking for diversity. It has plenty of tourist attractions and choosing the best ones is no easy matter. That said, you can be sure that regardless of whether you visit the Tri-City with your family, friends or significant other—no matter who you come with, you’ll have a great time.

Best tourist attractions in Gdańsk

Gdańsk is the region’s largest and oldest city, so naturally you will find the biggest share of the Tri-City area’s attractions there. Besides the historical Main Town, a lot of must-see places wait for you here. Dedicated to science and history, in a state-of-the-art interactive showcase, the Hevelianum Centre is picturesquely situated on Hail Hill (Góra Gradowa), which offers a spectacular view of the city.

The European Solidarity Centre is well worth a visit. Here you can spend long hours following Poland’s recent history and its road to democracy at a poignant interactive exhibition. If you want to learn about history going farther back, in fact history from millions of years ago, come to the Museum of Amber where you can find out about this symbol of Gdańsk and see an incredible amber collection.

If you visit Gdańsk with your kids, you should definitely go to the Oliwa Zoo where you can meet animals from all over the world across an impressive area of 125 hectares.

Best tourist attractions in Sopot

It takes just a short commute by SKM commuter rail to get to Sopot, a seaside resort that people visit in droves the whole year round, not just in the summer season. When in Sopot, you should definitely go for a walk down the lively Monte Cassino pedestrian street and then continue to the Sopot Pier, the longest pier on the Baltic Sea.

But that’s not all Sopot has to offer. For instance, climb your way to the top of Sopot’s Lighthouse, which offers an astonishing view of the Bay of Gdańsk, the roofs of Sopot’s townhouses and the forests of the Tri-City Landscape Park. And if you want to learn about the town’s history, go and see the Sopot Museum in a historical villa right next to the beach.

Best tourist attractions in Gdynia

Gdynia, the youngest of the three cities, has a lot in store for you too. If you’ve already taken your family to the Hevelianum Centre, you can also visit the Experiment Science Centre, an interactive space with fun for both young and old. Or why not go to the Gdynia Aquarium, right by the sea on the Southern Pier, where you can spend hours gazing at the captivatingly vibrant corals and sea creatures from many different seas and oceans.

Once at the Southern Pier, you should visit the Battleship Błyskawica (Lightning), Poland’s oldest surviving destroyer and World War II veteran, which you can experience both inside and out. From there, Skwer Kościuszki (Kościuszko Sq.) is just a stone’s throw away. It’s one of Gdynia’s calling cards, right next to the Gdynia Fountain, a staple of many postcards, and the city centre with a breathtaking view of the sea.
