Description

The Museum is a branch of the National Museum in Poznań and is located in two buildings. In the eclectic abode from 1904 in the basement there is the Ancient Art Gallery with an extraordinary and rare collection of Roman imperial portraits. On the ground floor there is the Medieval Art Gallery as well as the 16th–18th Century Polish Art Gallery. On the first floor there is the collection of Western-European art – as well as the only in Poland collection of Spanish paintings. In the Poznań collection there is also the only Claude Monet painting in Poland – The Beach in Pourville. The new wing of the museum showcases the works from the Enlightenment through Romanticism, Formalism, Impressionism to Symbolism in the Polish Art Gallery, to modern works by Kantor or Nowosielski, as well as pieces from last two decades.
