The
International Festival of Organ, Choral and Chamber Music is a series of exceptional events that has become an integral part of Gdańsk's cultural tradition. For many years, the Festival – as one of the longest-running recurring cultural events in the Pomeranian region – has attracted both local residents and numerous visitors eager to enjoy its rich cultural programme. Thanks to its international character, the Festival is addressed to music lovers from Poland and abroad alike.
The
49th edition of the Festival is now before us. Concerts will take place every Friday in July and August at
8:15 PM in the majestic
St. Mary's Basilica, located in the heart of Gdańsk.
This year's edition will feature a line-up of world-class artists. Alongside organ recitals by performers such as Andrew Dewar (France), Tina Christiansen (Denmark), and James D. Hicks (USA), audiences will enjoy performances by vocal ensembles, including the vocal octet Simultaneo and this year's Fryderyk Award winners – Art’n’Voices. The special concert on
15 August will feature the world-renowned
Polish Chamber Choir Schola Cantorum Gedanensis under the baton of Maestro Jan Łukaszewski.
The concert programme will present music ranging from the Renaissance to the present day. Another important aspect of the Festival is its diversity of performers. In addition to organ recitals, audiences will hear Duo Insieme (violin and viola), the Neuma Quartet, and a variety of vocal ensembles.
The Festival will conclude with a spectacular final concert by Filip Presseisen, renowned for presenting silent film screenings accompanied by live improvised organ music. During this unique evening, the majestic sound of the Basilica's magnificent organ will be joined by the powerful brass quintet Resonance BRASS. A special highlight of every concert will be the live video projection on a large screen, allowing the audience to watch the organist perform at the console in real time. This is a rare opportunity to experience the artistry of the performers up close and discover the extraordinary complexity and beauty of the organ.
