Family Attractions with the Tourist Card Metropolia Package
Start with the Faktoria Handlowa in Pruszcz Gdański. It’s a unique archaeological and tourist project with a reconstruction of a trading post and the International Amber Road from Roman times. The Faktoria includes the Chieftain’s House, a museum exhibit, a Trading Hall, which is a meeting place with living archaeology, and reconstructions of an Amber Artisan’s house and Blacksmith’s House. You can go back in time 2000 years in the past, see the archaeological discoveries and how the people used to live there. It is a remarkable interactive live history lesson.
The next stop is Centrum Hevelianum beautifully located on Gradowa Hill. It’s a place where the kids can take part in the experiments at Mr. Kleks’s Laboratory, take a trip to the centre of the Earth and see an exploding volcano, learn about the solutions to the most challenging mathematical riddles and take a time machine to the future. All of which guarantees a day full of exciting thrills.
From Gdańsk you can go to Sopot for a relaxing walk on the Pier, a place that needs no introduction. There you can go for dessert at the Café Mamma Mia with a view of the Pier and the Bay of Gdańsk (and a discount with the Tourist Card). Docked by the Pier is the Pirate Ship, which will take you on a 40-minute cruise on the Bay of Gdańsk (with a discount if you have a Tourist Card). It’s a real thrill, especially at sunset.
And then it’s just a stone’s throw to Gdynia to see the fish and other sea creatures at the Gdynia Aquarium or spend your day experimenting at the Centrum Nauki Experyment, loved by both young and old. Besides the permanent exhibition Experyment also features shows and workshops, so it’s worthwhile to check what’s going on by logging on to the Centre’s website.
